SZA Shares New Song “Shirt” and Video Co-Starring LaKeith Stanfield

SZA has delivered her new song “Shirt.”

Released alongside a cinematic Dave Meyers-directed video co-starring Atlanta’s LaKeith Stanfield, “Shirt” is the TDE signee’s first new solo song since she dropped “I Hate U” last year. In an interview with Aria Hughes for a Complex cover story, SZA said “Shirt” marked her fulfilling a long-held dream to work with producer Rodney Jerkins, a.k.a. Darkchild.

The track is expected to show up on the long-awaited follow-up to her 2017 debut Ctrl, which was reissued back in June with a deluxe edition. Earlier this month SZA gave fans a much-wanted update on the project, saying the rollout would start “any day.” When asked how much material she had recorded, she said she had a total of 100 songs in the can.

“Maybe, like, I don’t even know actually,” she clarified. “Five years of material.”
